Monday 11th January - SCHOOL IS OPEN TODAY
The boiler is still working and the heating is on.
Please take care coming to school, don't worry if you are a little late.
Update - Sunday pm
The boiler is still working and we now have some grit. So long as the boiler is still on in the morning, we will be opening.
However, please check this website in the morning, in case the situation changes.
Can I also ask, if any parents have recently changed their mobile number, that they update the school office tomorrow morning, to ensure we have emergency contact details for all children. Thank you.
Hopefully we will see you in the morning. Fingers crossed!
Mrs Spark
Plans for school opening on Monday 11th January
Providing the boiler is working and we have heating in school, we plan to open on Monday.
We have cleared only essential paths and so all children (including Nursery) will enter and leave school by the MAIN ENTRANCE.
- Beanstalks will use the school hall until we can organise safe access to the mobile classroom.
- School will not be open any earlier as it is likely some staff may be later arriving than usual and we cannot guarantee appropriate supervision. Therefore please do not arrive before 8.40am.
- Staff will be supervising pupils from the school gate to the main entrance. They will be taken into the school hall where they will be asked to take off all outdoor clothing (wellies etc.) before entering the rest of school. PLEASE can all outdoor clothing be named (especially wellies) and can pupils bring named plastic bags to put their outdoor clothes into.
- We will be flexible with marking pupils late over this cold spell. Please take care coming to school and don't worry if you are a few minutes late.
- We are asking parents to avoid driving down Alma Road as it is very icy and unlikely to be gritted in the near future. Usual school traffic will be dangerous, particularly for pedestrians. Please can you park and walk to school, even if you are a few minutes later. Thank you.
- To prevent Infant children / parents having to wait in the extreme cold for older siblings, we will allow Junior children with Infant siblings to leave school at 3.30pm, if you request. Please contact the school office or send a letter to the classteacher if you would like a Junior pupil to finish at 3.30pm, during this cold weather spell. Unless parents contact us to request this, Junior pupils will leave at 3.45pm. Please note this ONLY applies to Junior children with Infant siblings.
- All nursery children will be greeted at the main entrance by Mrs Pope / Mrs Bingham and will meet in the school hall before going through to the Nursery.
- As it will be very congested at 3.30pm with all pupils leaving by the main entrance, Afternoon Nursery children will finish at 3.20pm during this cold period. This will enable us to ensure the nursery children are able to leave safely.
However, please can I emphasise the need to keep checking this website for up-to-date details.
