Here at Tyntesfield Primary School we believe that developing positive Mental Health and Wellbeing of our staff and  pupils is fundamental in creating a happy and successful community.

Over the past few years we have been working hard to develop a Wellbeing Framework which aims to reduce the stigma around Mental Health, whilst also preparing our pupils for tomorrow’s world by building balanced, resilient and happy minds at school and at home.

At Tyntesfield Primary school, we believe pupils should have a voice on their opinions and greater ownership over decisions made about their Mental Health and Wellbeing and this has been crucial to our success with our Wellbeing journey.

Our Pupil Health Champions and Pupil Parliament work hard throughout the year to promote a supportive and positive attitude around school, conducting pupil interviews to further enhance our wellbeing offer. As a school, we are committed to developing the emotional literacy of our pupils, delivering progressive Zones of Regulation sessions within our Lifeskills Curriculum, as well as using them as part of everyday classroom and playground conversations.

Here at Tyntesfield, we believe that a healthy lifestyle is fundamental in supporting us to achieve our best. We believe that promoting physical and mental health in school creates a virtuous circle reinforcing children’s attainment and achievement. This in turn improves their wellbeing, enabling all of our pupils to thrive and reach their full potential.

Research has shown that what we eat and drink affects how we feel, think and behave. Good nutritional intake throughout the day has been linked to academic success. As a result, we have introduced a mandatory list of healthy snacks for KS2 pupils and developed a Healthy eating scheme, giving our parents the option for their child to have healthy snacks provided within school.
