Welcome to RZS at Tyntesfield. This is such a special year for your child and it is a real privilege to be part of their learning journey.

My name is Miss Stott and together with Mrs Shea and Mrs Rouse, we are excited to support you and your child through the Reception year.

We understand the importance of children feeling safe, having fun with their learning and being motivated. Learning in Reception is based around carefully planned play-based activities in an environment designed to inspire children, stimulate their curiosity and develop a real thirst for learning. We also encourage the children to value their independence and to take pleasure in tackling new challenges.

We recognise that all children are unique and we embrace and celebrate their individuality, drawing on their experiences, interests and teaching in a creative, stimulating (and occasionally muddy!) way. Our curriculum is designed to ensure all children get the firm foundations they need, in knowledge and skills across all the areas of learning and will be adapted throughout the year to suit the needs of our children.

We have 60 children across two classes with a shared creative area and a fantastic outdoor space! Children are encouraged to explore and use all areas of the EYFS environment. We regularly visit ‘the woods’ at the end of our field for Woody Wanderers sessions where we learn about the natural environment, build, climb, dig and play.

We are extremely passionate about your children having the best start to their education in a happy, nurturing and stimulating environment. We are thoroughly looking forward to being a part of this journey with your children and helping them to grow them into expressive, confident and independent individuals!

Our Curriculum below is a live document that is adapted throughout the year to suit the emerging needs and interests of the cohort. This copy gives you a flavour of some of the topics we will learn about.
