Welcome to our REM at Tyntesfield. We feel privileged to be part of such an important year in your child’s life and to start them off on their journey through Tyntesfield.
My name is Mrs McDonald and together with Mrs Robinson and Mrs Smith we are excited to support you and your child through the Reception year.
Your children will be learning through carefully planned play-based activities both indoors and outdoors, following the EYFS Curriculum. We believe all children are unique and we embrace and celebrate individuality, teaching in a creative, stimulating (and occasionally muddy!) way. Throughout the year, we will create exciting learning opportunities that are inspired by the children’s interests to enable them to grow and develop.
We encourage the children to value their independence and to take pleasure in tackling new challenges. We have 60 children across two classes with a shared creative area and a fantastic outdoor space! Children are encouraged to explore and use all areas of the EYFS environment. Every week we go out to ‘the woods’ at the end of the field for Woody Wanderers sessions where we learn about the natural environment, build, climb, dig and play.
We are extremely passionate about your children having the best start to their education in a happy, nurturing and stimulating environment. We are thoroughly looking forward to being a part of this journey with your children and nurturing them into expressive, confident and independent individuals!
Our Curriculum below is a live document that is adapted throughout the year to suit the emerging needs and interest of the cohort. This copy gives you a flavour of some of the topics we will learn about.
