PERSONAL AND SOCIAL EDUCATION will play a major part in the children's experiences. This will involve development of qualities and attitudes, moral considerations, and Sex Education. The Sex Education programme at Tyntesfield has three elements :

1.   The statutory elements of the Science National Curriculum involving Life processes and living things.
2.   The elements of Personal and Social Education and R.E. which relate to this area e.g. dealing with emotions
and feelings, developing positive relationships, etc.
3.  Specific topics covered in the Upper Juniors --- changes at puberty

Under the Education Act 1993 pupils can be withdrawn by their parents from the part of Sex Education that is outside the compulsory elements contained in the Science National Curriculum. Parents wishing to exercise this right are invited to discuss the matter with the Headteacher. Any materials used in the delivery of Sex Education are available for parents to view.

TECHNOLOGY, HISTORY, GEOGRAPHY are taught as part of the themes studied by a particular class. Themes are planned to cover History and Geography, both local and world, and each topic will include an Art / Technology project.

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY involves the use of computers and other technology throughout the curriculum. We have a 30 PC networked computer suite and there is at least one PC in each class.

MUSIC has a high profile in the school with each class having regular sessions. There is the opportunity to pursue interests in this area in lunchtime instrumental sessions.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION follows the guidelines of the Local Authority Policy Statement. An assembly, which can take a variety of forms, is held each day and is broadly Christian in nature. Parents have the right to withdraw their children from R.E. and worship if they choose, and are invited to discuss alternative arrangements with the Headteacher
