...so in 2008 our Playground Project began! We were keen to seek the views and ideas of the children and initially we spoke to the children through the School Council. Next we consulted parents and the staff, and then the School Council helped to draw all the ideas together and formulate a development plan, broken down into three phases.
The School Council then considered various fundraising ideas and, as well as several cake sales, we held a very successful sponsored walk and received a generous donation from a local business.
Three years ago our playground was an uninspiring space...
The Second Phase was completed in Spring 2011 and was paid for using funding raised by the PTA,this included:
* Rainbow coloured benches around the perimter of the playground
* Rainbow coloured picnic benches with gameboard tops
* Playground markings
* Several fixed target boards
* A range of brightly coloured boards around the playground, on the fence e.g. skipping rhymes, a world map
The First Phase was finished in Autumn 2009 and included:
* A new shed and playtime equipment
* A traversing wall
* An adventure trail
* A running track
* Several painted targets on the walls
We are currently in the process of raising the final funds needed to complete the final phase of the project - a climbing frame / adventure trail for the older juniors.
