We offer a curriculum which is broad, balanced and creative. Lessons are carefully planned to ensure coverage of the National Curriculum, built upon previous learning and to engage children's interest. These will include a range of practical, investigative and more traditional activities designed to meet the needs of different types of learner. There will be some discrete subject teaching and some integrated, thematic work. As far as possible, lessons will be taught in a context, so that children can see a purpose in what they are doing.
At Tyntesfield, we have high expectations of our children, we are committed to providing stimulating, challenging and enriching learning opportunities that enable every child to excel, with an emphasis on the development of the positive attitudes toward learning alongside increasing pupils’ knowledge, understanding and skills. At the same time, we recognise that education must enable our learners to respond positively to the opportunities and challenges of the rapidly changing world in which we live and work.
Children are encouraged to become reflective learners, who are involved in the assessment and evaluation of their own and others' work. They are given time to listen, talk, discuss, debate and value the opinions of others. Sometimes they will work as a whole class, sometimes in groups, airs or independently.
